
We have these thoughts, pieces of the puzzle
so to speak; we call the Basis of Being. With it we must
start making fundamental changes in the way we treat and
interact with one another. To continue down our current
path can only lead to humanity's demise. All of modern society
will fall by the wayside unless man realizes that in order
to progress to the next level of human development we need
to embrace change and adopt a new way of thinking. There
are many religions and life philosophies each with valid
points; the Basis of Being can be incorporated with any
religion or philosophy, except perhaps the most extreme.
Extremism and blind faith in anything is wrong. It is for
the simple minded and weak. We each have a mind and it should
be used. Questioning our beliefs and making sure we fully
understand what we believe is paramount. We are not preaching
a spiritual approach but a mundane one. The Basis of Being
and religion are not mutually exclusive. They can coexist
quite easily and perhaps "fill in the blanks"
where each may be lacking.
Humanity needs something simple that will
radiate a deep and profound sense of oneness within ourselves
and cultivate harmony with our environment. To embrace the
Basis of Being as a real living, breathing way of life,
is to seek to emulate its philosophies in all that we say
and do and our lives should radiate this state of awareness.
We should feel it in the very core of our existence. It
needs to be recognized that the possible answers to mankind's
issues come from within the hearts and minds of genuine
seekers of these truths.
This is not a movement, religious foundation,
and definitely not a cult. This is a road map which helps
guide the traveler along the way. Life is a journey, not
a destination and should be treated as such. Through this
guide one should seek personal enlightenment, strive towards
inner growth and gain the peace that comes with inner resolution
of your being; and gain a deeper understanding of what makes
a person tick.
It may be forthright, or may meander through
all that makes up life; touching on things lightly or heavily,
leaving a mark on everything it visits. This can not be
considered a Theology, even though it may use aspects of
theological foundation. The great thing about approaching
life in this manner is it does not require anything, there
is no real doctrine to follow, no set rules. Sure, there
are guide points, and certain rules of conduct; but these
are normal everyday occurrences that you will find come
easily to you.
Also, there are no places of worship. We
are not worshiping anything other than ourselves. The body
and mind is our temple. There are no buildings for you to
show your faith and understanding in. You may gather in
fellowship with other believers but organized religion is
not the intent. Surround yourself with people who share
your views. Your free will is completely yours to command.
It is up to every individual to choose what
path they follow, what alliances they form, and what bridges
they build or burn. The Basis of Being is based on love,
understanding, and respect of everything around us. There
are many of us trapped on a very small planet. If we do
not act soon we may just have to say goodbye to one another,
if not the entire world. The time to adapt - to change is
here. Welcome to the Basis of Being.
People often feel that they must externalize
their needs. Those with a spiritual persuasion would call
this prayer and those who are more grounded in the mundane
would consider this a mantra. The methods and contents of
religious prayer differ from faith to faith; so we will
not cover it here since we cannot adequately cover them
all. Instead we will concentrate on the mantra.
A Mantra is a very old Sanskrit word that
is usually associated with meditation. It is usually a small
phrase that assists in centering your 'spirit' and helps
fortify you for the coming challenges. These can be of your
own making or be an existing phrase or part of a phrase.
One example of an existing phrase that can be used as a
mantra follows:
"It is not the critic who counts; not
the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where
the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit
belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face
is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly;
who errs, who comes short again and again, because there
is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does
actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms,
the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause;
who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement,
and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while
daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those
cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
It is here that I should mention that my
philosophy of life strives for goodness, moderated with
reality. I realize that everything can not be perfect. There
will always be trials, tribulations, and hardships. The
key is to keep your head above water and never give up.
There are certain things in my life that I have gleaned
from various religions and philosophies. That's not to say
these ideas have not been around for years, but it seems
that nobody has actually applied them to life and living
it sanely.
You may note that many religions and philosophies
will be used through example. This is by no means a validation
of said religion or philosophy. The inverse is also true.
If a specific religion or belief is not mentioned, it is
not being excluded intentionally. There are so many beliefs
that it would be impossible to provide a comprehensive list.
Our concern is with the Basis of Being and any belief outside
of this arena is ultimately up to the individual to choose,
or not as the case may be. Now on to the list!
