Imagine a world where the power of hope, love,
and understanding is more powerful than the dollar, or deutschmark,
the yen or the ruble. Man must soon learn to put aside his
differences and progress towards a future that is good and
well for all. One might say that it is human nature for
us to be greedy and war-like. Taking what we think we need
and killing each other is going to send us closer to the
brink of devastation than we had ever thought possible.
Humanity must purge old doctrines and dogma. We must blaze
a new path to the freedom of the human race; freedom from
itself. We are capable of so much more.
Have you ever taken time to look at all the
various organized religions and philosophy's that exist
and wonder which one is right? How do you decide? There
are so many different views on life and how we should live
it, that it boggles the mind. And when you look closely
at them all you begin to find many similarities. In fact,
you tend to find more similarities than many religious and
philosophical leaders are willing to admit. They seem more
interested in pointing out all the differences and why the
other beliefs are all wrong, or heathens, if you will. What
if the answer is that no one has all the answers? Or is
doing it right? Or, most definitely, doesn't have the complete
picture? Or, perhaps the picture is complete but is being
clouded by the mechanisms and structures that have formed
up around that particular belief system. Regardless, the
question remains, how do you decide which belief system
or philosophy is correct for you?
This very question is what helped bring about
the idea for the Basis of Being. It is a set of suggestions,
called maxims, to help guide you through this journey we
call Life. It is not a religion or an immutable set of rules;
it is a guide, nothing more - an amalgamation of thoughts,
ideas and best practices that are meant to provide an understanding
of how we should conduct ourselves as human beings. It neither
condones nor rejects any religious belief or philosophy
and can easily be made part of either. But it is firmly
based in the knowledge that no one should be pushed by fear
to do anything; that is why this is just a roadmap; a roadmap
to life.
One of the main differentiators that sets
the Basis of Being apart from many other philosophies is
that it deals primarily with the here and now. It is grounded
in the mundane aspects of life and leaves the spiritual
side of the equation up to each individual to decide for
themselves. In this regard, however, it does provide thoughts
and ideas on what to consider when thinking on these things.
Ultimately, however, it is up to each person to decide.
That is the beauty of the Basis of Being. It forces nothing
down your throat, it only teaches and leaves the choice
to follow or not up to you. In fact, freedom of choice,
or free will, if you prefer, is the cornerstone on which
the Basis of Being sits.
If you are familiar at all with Sun Tzu, you
can think of the Basis of Being as the "Art of War"
for every day life - 'The Art of Life'. It provides words
of wisdom to help you along your journey. It does not contain
all the answers to life, nor is it intended to, but it will
shed some light on the direction you might want to travel.
In fact, it may very well cause you to question many things
you took for granted or thought you knew. But that is the
point, to make you think.
People blindly following an ideology or religion
cause so many problems in this world. In most cases it was
probably not the intent of the original founders or authors
to create this kind of division in humanity. It was most
likely their hope for just the opposite that gave them the
impetus to put pen or quill to paper. However, over time
many good things have become twisted and misinterpreted
by those who espouse those beliefs. This is a problem in
and of itself; however, it is compounded by the fact that
people are willing to just sit idly by and follow blindly.
The Basis of Being is intended to challenge this erroneous
attitude. It makes you think, ask questions, and examine
yourself more closely.
It is also different in its approach in that
it focuses more on you as and individual and less on others
around you. This is not to say that you should not worry
or be concerned about others, but rather shows that through
taking care of yourself first you can better help those
around you. A drowning man cannot save anyone else unless
he saves himself first. In essence, we are all drowning
in this great big ocean of life. We are being tossed to-and-fro
by the waves of knowledge and life affirmation. And we are
at their mercy. But what if there is another way? A way
we could find to ground ourselves and become the rock that
the waves break upon instead of the waves breaking us and
carrying us about in the eddies of everyday life. What if
there was a way for us to be the masters of our destiny
and not merely pawns in the game of life, being controlled
by others? It is time to stop being a sheep being led out
to pasture, and lead the way
as a wolf. This is the
reason and the intent of the Basis of Being. To help us
root ourselves in a solid foundation and then guide us along
our path in life so that we may guide others, not as leaders,
but companions.
If you are tired of being controlled, brainwashed,
told what to do by others, and are ready to lead your life
the way it should be, then read more about the Basis of
Being. A simple change is all it takes to begin blazing
your own path, to be a leader and not a blind follower.
